EYFS framework

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is set up to ensure every child gets the best possible start in life. It is a play-based curriculum used to promote learning, development and safety of children from birth to five years.

Children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

SEND can be characterised by a range of needs and difficulties. There are four broad areas:

• Communication and Interaction - speech, language, and communication needs and difficulties with interaction with others.
• Cognition and Learning - learning difficulties vary in severity and may make it difficult to learn everything or just certain things.
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties - this covers a wide range of needs and these may be seen in a child or young person as withdrawn and isolated behaviours or as challenging and unsafe behaviours.
• Sensory and/or Physical Needs - these include visual and hearing impairment and physical and mobility needs.

At Alpha Nurseries we aspire to offer fully inclusive places to children with special educational needs and difficulties. We will cater to all needs to ensure that all children have equal access to the services that we offer and therefore have the best start in life.

Healthy Eating at Our Nurseries

At Alpha Nurseries we believe in encouraging healthy eating. Our menus are carefully designed to offer a healthy, balanced diet that is freshly prepared by our cooks. For your child's meals we prepare all our own food using fresh and, where possible, locally sourced products. We educate the children on the benefits of nutritional food and the advantages of growing vegetables. Our staff promote the benefits of drinking water and we also have dentists come into our nurseries, for the children to see the impact of sugar on their teeth.

Children's Uniform

You can now order a uniform for your child direct from our website to your door.

Uniform is completely optional but can save the hassle of what to wear for Nursery, and save your child clothes from messy play activities!

Tapestry

Find out more about Tapestry

At our nurseries we use Tapestry which is a safe easy to use online journal allowing our staff and parents to record, track and celebrate children's progress. Using it as another way to communicate, you can share with the nursery your child's activities with writing, videos and photos whilst being away from the nursery.
